The UFC Featherweight Championship will be on the line on Saturday, when Max Holloway defends his belt against José Aldo in the main event of UFC 218: Holloway vs. Aldo 2. The pay-per-view event comes from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.
Saturday’s action begins at 6 p.m. ET with the UFC Fight Pass prelims, and continue at 8 p.m. with prelims on Fox Sports 1. The main card will kick off at 10 p.m. and can be purchased through your cable or satellite provider or online directly through the UFC. Online streaming can be had via Fight Pass, Fox Sports GO, the UFC YouTube channel and more.
Holloway is coming off a third-round TKO victory over Aldo in his last fight, back in June. He unified the featherweight title with that win, and hasn’t lost since he fell to Conor McGregor in August 2013. He is 18-3 and looking to establish some form of dominance over the division that was headlined by McGregor before he moved up to lightweight.
Holloway was originally going to fight Frankie Edgar in this event, but Edgar had to pull out with an injury. Aldo’s last fight was the loss to Holloway, but prior to that, he beat Edgar in a unanimous decision at UFC 200. Aldo is 26-3, with losses in two of his last three, and he’s trying hard to get back in the win column.
In the card’s penultimate fight, Alistair Overeem will be taking on Francis Ngannou in the heavyweight division. Overeem has won his last two fights, beating Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum. Ngannou is 10-1 as a professional, last losing in his second career fight back in 2013. He scored a TKO win over Andrei Arlovski in his last bout.
The main card will also feature a flyweight bout between Henry Cejudo and Sergio Pettis, as well as a hotly-anticipated contest between lightweights Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje. The main card will open with a bout between Tecia Torres and Michelle Waterson in the women’s strawweight division.
