Cris Cyborg will put her UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship on the line against Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm on Saturday. The card, from T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, will feature that title fight as well as what is widely considered a title eliminator between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Edson Barboza.
The pay-per-view main card is set to begin at 10 p.m. ET, with live streaming via the UFC directly. The preliminary card begins at 7:30 p.m. on UFC Fight Pass and continues at 8 p.m. broadcast by Fox Sports 1, with live streaming via Fox Sports GO.
Nurmagomedov hasn’t fought since November 2016, but remains undefeated for his career. He should have a chip on his shoulder as well, as he feels he has been denied the right to fight Conor McGregor for the UFC Lightweight Champonship. McGregor’s fight future is unknown at this point, but Nurmagomedov could face Tony Ferguson, the interim champion, with a win over Barboza.
Of course, Barboza handing Nurmagomedov his first career loss in 25 fights would likely be enough to get a shot at the belt himself. Barboza has won his last three fights, including a flying knee knockout of Beneil Dariush in his last outing.
Cyborg is 18-1 as a professional, with three wins in the UFC. All three of her UFC fights — against Leslie Smith, Lina Lansberg and Tonya Evinger — have ended with a TKO victory for Cyborg. She won the belt in her last outing after it was forfeit by Germaine de Randamie, who refused to fight Cyborg, stating that Cyborg was a proven drug cheater.
Holm suffered three consecutive losses after her hugely surprising victory over Ronda Rousey in November 2015. But she got back in the win column with her return to bantamweight in June 2017, scoring a knockout of Bethe Correia to set up this title bout.
The main card will also feature two former champions in Carlos Condit and Carla Esparza. Condit will face Neil Magny in a welterweight bout that will open the main card, while Esparza will take on Cynthia Calvillo in the strawweight division. The other main card bout will see lightweights Dan Hooker and Marc Diakiese face off.
Saturday’s preliminary card will feature names like Myles Jury, Louis Smolka and Tim Elliott.
