Tyron Woodley has not lost a fight since 2014 with a 5-0-1 record over his last six fights. While casual fans may be looking ahead to the Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov fight at UFC 229, real fight fans know they’ve got an excellent main event on their hands here at UFC 228 between Woodley and Darren Till.
Woodley is a going off as a very slight underdog in this matchup at -110 on the UFC 228 odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The current welterweight champion won the title from Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 and has successfully retained it three times since then, fighting to a draw against Stephen Thompson before picking up a win over Thompson in their rematch and then defeating Demian Maia at UFC 214.
Woodley is an excellent takedown defender that also has the power to end any fight in one punch.
Darren Till’s quick rise through the ranks culminates with this title fight at UFC 228. Till is undefeated as a professional with a record of 17-0-1 and is coming off of a big win at UFC Fight Night 130 over Stephen Thompson. Till has picked up 10 of his 17 career wins by knockout and is a strong striker. After opening as a +100 underdog, Till has been bet up to a slight favorite at -120.
In what figures to be a far less difficult fight to call, Valentina Shevchenko is a massive favorite at -1200 on the UFC 228 betting lines to defeat Nicco Montano (+700) for the UFC women’s flyweight championship.
Shevchenko went 3-2 as a bantamweight in the UFC with both of her losses coming to Amanda Nunes. She owns a 15-3 record and looked great in her first fight as a flyweight with a second-round win over Priscila Cachoeira. Montano became the inaugural champion of this division by winning The Ultimate Fighter competition and is in for a big bump in competition on the main card.
Rounding out the main card for UFC 228 are Jessica Andrade (-450) vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz (+325), Aljamain Sterling (-135) vs. Cody Stamann (+105), and Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Brandon Davis. Tatiana Suarez (-550) vs. Carla Esparza (+375) was moved down to be the main event of the preliminary card.
